 motorcycle security

Bikes are a relatively easy target for the thieves, they can be easily wheeled away or carried off in a van. Make it as difficult as possible for the thief to get away with your bike. No security device is effective on its own, a combination of products is recommended.

Follow our advice to help keep your bike safe.

  • Keep your keys safe and hidden when at home.
  • Use designated motorcycle parking areas and look for places with a 'Safer Parking Award' sign, and if at all possible, cover your bike when parked.

  • It's worth investing in mechanical and electronic immobilisers so choose a Sold Secure or Thatcham approved security device

  • When you purchase a security device make sure you use it.

  • Always engage the steering lock.

  • Don't leave possessions with your bike, such as helmets, gloves etc.

  • In your garage or shed, consider an alarm or extending an existing system, also fit strong locks and invest in a ground anchor.

  • Mark the main areas of the motorcycle with your vehicle VIN (vehicle identification number)

  • If having security fitted always use a VSIB accredited installer. Security systems are only as good as their fitting
